Knew Myself a LiL Better
milubing | 12 March, 2009 03:59

nic
This post is dedicated to my parents, my mum who loves me dearly, and my dad who believes that I can still make it after countless falls.

Was watching a movie.. when a statement from a conversation hit me hard.

"Life's an Occasion. Rise to it."

It's not that I've not been doing that. Ironically, the issue here is that I've been guilty of standing in applause for it for too long a moment, many a times. People generally worry about money, about bread and butter, but people like me would go hungry for passion and merry making music. Who would be standing upright 10 yrs from now? The grounded people building their careers on generic jobs like accountants, lawyers, engineers.. Or people that Rised up to life and paradigms, living a life of passion and joy which may end overnight?

Maybe it'll not me standing. Maybe I woud end up basking at orchard MRT or do some small run-down pub shows for 50 bucks a night, living off maggi mee to save up to pay the rent and a pack of cigarettes... Bittersweet Smiles on my face. Hidden tears on my pillow that would have dried up by the next morning, leaving nothing but faint marks on that pillow case that would have been unwashed off it's countless tears for god knows since when.

On the bright side... maybe it would be me standing, me leaving a legacy for my kids... that I had made it no matter how hard it took me to get the high ground where I would be standing, that I can have the previledge to say to my son, "Look here, Daddy made it through hardwork and belief son, I know you can live your life to the fullest too, live the dreams you dream, that you can get there. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

I'm not questioning my beliefs, my passion, my love for life.

I just question My Own End Point after. Which of the 2 above it would be.

Not backing out, no no. NOT. I'll Rise to the Occasion of Life as I've been doing so. May it treat me well, as I'll applaud it the best I can, Smiles and Sweat on my face, Thorns and Tears in my eyes. Yes. I will Continue moving forward.

Are you rising up today? It's not wrong to sit through your entire life. It can be a joy. Such great joy of simplicity and assurance I had when i was a kid, no worries no troubles. But now as this kid within me grows a lil bigger, his visions have grown too. I'ld risk losing that simplistic joy, to gain a joy unspoken of..

Except only by people like who dream my dream.

WeiQi come to spoil mood again haha.. no la.. i care for u all so i post these useful pics hor...

Take 179 or 179a, relax till u see NIE signboard on your right and overhead bridge up ahead:

Drop at this bus stop, get to the bridge and walk in this direction :

Then find your way to the 7-11(some where around the corner of the canteen with macs):

Your view should look like that:

Then walk all the way till u see this gantry on your right, turn right to look for flight of stairs:

As u turn right to the stairs you will see this view:

The quad is downstairs but i think we should be performing in the tentage..makes sense to me, just my guess:

How to go home? back track all the way, and take the same bus 179/179A, it will loop back to the interchange, but try to drop at pioneer mrt station instead to get a seat hahaha(sound so kiasu tsk tsk..)

See ya on sat!!! :D "We'll see ya this Saturday, 14 March '09 bout 11-12pm at the NTU Open House."

Reap what you sowed...

Sow the seeds you want to reap...

Be fair to the chance having given to sow...

Be fair to the efforts sowed and earn the reaps much deserved...

proudly...

quotes:- "Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years".

to MLB,

"May the sun
bring you new energy by day
May the moon
softly restore you by night
May the rain
wash away your worries
May the breeze
blow new strength into your being
May you walk
gently through the world and know
its beauty all the days of your life."

That's like rising above the flood. :)

You know, talk about passion.. it's really a very tough journey. Sometimes causes your brows to crease for a long long time. Even as today, I forgot to eat, wondering why I felt so feverish.. until after I bought my film rolls, then finally dawn on me.. I haven ate anything since I woke up..and the clock struck 1800h.

So many things at the back of my mind.. things that support passion and kill passion.. human relationships at the top of the list.. wears you off most of the time..in hope to find a balance.. sometimes, you wish you can hop on to a bus and bum off to a road trip that sees no end.. there, you make your passion visible.. and all the time, hope that everyone you meet on streets is passion-driven, not interest-driven..

As one grows older, the world is so warped.. that you wish that the veil of naivety will never be peeled from your eyes.. only with such innocence.. arts can achieve its pure and true form with true sincerity.

I think right now, I am quite sadden by some incidents where people are indulged in self-interest. Art people working together for own interests..it's a bit ugly and surreal.. kinda scares me.. put me on guard against everyone who approaches me.. not sure if they are for real.. or just want to take and go..

yet at the same time, have met rare few who are selfless artists that come together to talk, to teach, to learn. Purely out of passion..

I hope I can rise above the flood soon. :)

It may seem stupid..

If we're made of wood (in this context).. no matter how chopped up.. how drenched.. you will float.

The question is to where...

Anonymous Anonymous | 13 March, 2009 03:03

i think...it doesn't matter if u duno where u will float to, duno whether u will be standing or falling or sitting in, say, 10 years down the road. Why? cos we are not fortune tellers hahaha so no one will know what will happen to us...hahaha...
so no one knows where we will float to. hmmm maybe clues can be taken from the past experiences or people whom you know but, they are not you?
haha but if you choose to float, you shall float with a smile and accept the whatever destination with a smile ba.

ok so the moral of my story is no matter what our end point is, we shall still smile cos its our choice...even if we fall down we shall still fall with a smile =).

i think...=)

cya on sat lo nic~~ =) take care~

Anonymous Anonymous | 13 March, 2009 11:36

hmm..
from my point of view..

and lastly.. JIA YOU for tml! =)

Anonymous Anonymous | 13 March, 2009 14:01

haha.. it'll be scary to know where you are floating to..will be bored along the journey..

suspense plus excitement along the unknown destination.. Unknown yet know it's definitely to be somewhere good..

~ keep floating.. till we reach the shore.. ~

Anonymous Anonymous | 13 March, 2009 16:11

Life, is a journey into the unknown future. Ya, sometimes thinking abt it can be scary,
but floating along the way, the unknown territory, u may come across many interesting
discoveries. U may also weep. Just keep moving!. U will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or u may see the beautiful Rainbow just after the rain. Ppl who turn back will nvr ever see the LIGHT!.
Jiayou! all

life is full of uncertainty n often many things dont go the way u want them to...

yet whatever decisions we've made we'll have to face e consequnces of our choices be it good or bad...

i've come to realise life isn smooth sailing, there'll be stbacks always but we cant grieve over our failures for long as e world still revolves even if u're standing on e same ground...

especially in this realistic world many still stick to e belief that paper certificates are a necessity to survive(which is what i really hate about)

but for me what i've been doing for now seems to have been what my parents had wanted mi to do thats why for some time i'd actually stop n hate my life...feeling outta breath

mlb must jiayous le!!thou i dont attend those gigs regularly but i'm still supportive of your music!!^^

take 179 from boon lay or jurong east? or both? =/ lols.

Thank you so much for the useful pictures Weiqi.
:)

Blogger Pek Choo | 13 March, 2009 19:57

Weiqi,
thanks for the direction.
See you guys tml.

Anonymous Anonymous | 14 March, 2009 00:06

ruiting, you can take 179 from boon lay interchange, and drop at the bus stop as stated in the post by weiqi. bus route info here

btw, a better landmark to look out for while on the bus will be ADM building, which is the building with very nice glass windows and very prominent slope. press the bell and you alight at the next bus stop, where there's a overhead bridge, as shown in the photo weiqi posted. after that, walk up the stairs and look for macs, there's a posb atm on your left and you should be able to see the 7-11 from there. and then, follow the instructions as in the photos and you'll get there somehow..

also, just fyi, the tentage is between the quad and nanyang audi, right infront of sch of biological sci.

hope everyone gets there alright tomorrow. see ya guys! :)

At least u hv the passion. Some people live thru their lives w/o having passion for anything so they settle for whatever that conveniently comes their way. that is the greatest fear in life. Did i make the best of what i have? my so-called talent, do i even hv one? did i chase that opportunity hard enuff to get what i want? Do i sit or stand up? If stand, what shld i stand up for??? At least u hv the courage to stand up and know what u r standing up for. That's a gd place to start. So for the sake of everyone here who may or may not be driven by passion, let's hope all the lil pcs of driftwood float to a good place. my fingers are crossed.

Ya, I am also very tired & stressful. Last night slept around 4++am, then woke up at 8am traveled all the way from Sengkang to NTU (indeed the campus is at a quite ulu place) just to see MLB's performance.

Guys, you have put up a great show for us. We really enjoyed ourselves very much. MLB Poer-Lah...

Aiyo, why MLB's events mostly at western side one? 4th of April, will it be a mini concert from MLB? But the venue (IMM) dun seems to be a right place for concert? Watever it may be, just hope that I will be available for the event.

Oh... moving to the side of the stage also got purpose one ha? Don't even know about it, until weiqi mentioned here! Only knew that Nic, did passed some comments on my dressing is it? couldn't hear clearly, only heard fellow MLBians laughing ???

Well tmr meet up for watever, just hope that you guys are happy & healthy. Have a Beautiful Sunday :)

Anonymous Anonymous | 15 March, 2009 01:28
