mlb : Hi MLBians, this announcement comes a little late due to album production.. but here goes!Our dear ICs, Yuan Ping, Biru and Mei Kian have been helping all of us here, both MLB and MLBians for such a long time le.. and as we all grow up together, we have certain responsibilities we have to uphold and new challenges to face. Thus, Mei Kian and Biru have informed me that they will be stepping down from their post, to concentrate on their work and studies, at the same time allowing others to have the chance to take up the role of helping MLB and guiding the MLB family.
It has been our pleasure to have ICs like the 3 of them, and I thank all MLBians on their behalf who have helped them and cooperated with them. They have been really helpful, from helping to organize events(family reunions etc) to tee-shirt collection coordination etc. So pls applaud them!
So right now, we have Yuan Ping left to hold the fort(jiayo gal!), and thus we are looking for 1 or 2 more helpers to come abroad, to be a big sister or big brother to the rest, and to help MLB with the upcoming events and activities. If you're interested to take up this role, pls write in to milubing@gmail.com with a short paragraph on why you wanna take up the role and how you are suitable for the post. The band will forward the emails to an in-charge who will then revert back to us with the details and the announcement will be made here on the blog.
: Ok, I was thinking to myself that day, that actually I should start a "developer's diary" kinda thingy here on the blog, because there is more work done prior to this 3rd album. For eg. I have some concepts and drawings/sketches that I did for the album, which was all done for MLBians, and so why shouldn't you peeps get to see em? Yup, so I've decided, that I should start a short series based on the 2months when I was still heading the concept art for this album. I think even though the concepts weren't used in the end, it is not really the results that matter sometimes, but the process. Singaporeans are really result oriented (thus the lack of care for late bloomers), and tend to undermine the importance of the process. So anyways, guess I'll be doing up some posts here, so stay tuned oki? :) Take care you all! MLBians rock!p.s. don forget to vote!

Jess, I think that depends on whether you intend to study in TP or not then.
By now, I think you should have an idea of what you wanna study.. You could take a look at the courses TP offer, if any interests you, then going for their event definitely benefits you. If there isn't any, then you probably can give it a miss.
I guess the boys don't want mlbians to neglect their studies too.
@ anon: well i do intend on studying at TP, and i have the few courses i want in mind, and i think the event might benefit me only the part whr they introduce the school, but theres alot of activities like games planned out which i dont actually enjoy, it'll be 3 full day event which i think will be super tiring eh..
plus i want to go for mlb's event on tues as planned, sighs =(

Hey Jess, here's my suggestion haha..i think u should go for the TP open house thingy, BUT, i think u should go to more open houses! JCs, POLYs, Art Schools! PRivate schools? really.. cos i realised as a student, i didn't make good choices cos i didn't know what choices i had. And i was too shy/afraid to ask questions, so i didn't know wat was available. U gotta figure out wat u wanna do in the future(your job) and work towards that by choosing the school that ur gonna study at. If ur not sure yet, then bo bian gotta tag along with the government program of working to uni level. But if u know wat u want, u can break away from the norm and be happy about what u do. Take myself for eg. If i did more research about my course(3D,animation,modelling) i would have found out that my industry is portfolio dependent and not qualification dependent(unless u wanna teach in a school). So if i could replay my live, i would not come to NTU to do a 4 year course, but take a 9 month course to get a diploma in digital animation, which would save my parents $ and I would get a job more easily..also after that, when i want to, i could always take a degree later in a shorter period of time if i decided to teach. haha.. this is just an example la.. but yup, frankly speaking, after i graduate, i wanna try to work with MLB and to bring it to greater heights first(overseas) cos music is and will always be my first love. it is a subset of the Arts.. and design/3D and everything else is linked with music too. wa paiseh.. talk too much le :p
actually Jess, don let ppl plan ur life. plan ur own life. know the rules, then bend them ;)
Like last time the concert at esplanade, we stuck to strictly to the timing..and didn't do more encores.now i realised that we could have, and the management would have understand. In life, it's about negotiation, being in control. Something that MLB has to learn to do too.

yup i totally agree.. in the beginning i was in a dilemma also.. is either i go teaching or i end up being a food tech or something.. den my mum said like, if i want to stay in the lab for the whole day den go take the course.. lol.. but its true la, i dun want to be stuck some where for 24/7 except during lunch break.. want to talk also no one to talk to.. really sad.. but.. sign bond already cannot regret, just have to move on :)

"Plan Your Life." yea.. everyone have to, before its too late. I mean.. I didn't plan my well enough. Many chance were given, but I just didn't treasure them. All I thought was, still not yet time to think about those. But I was so wrong.
Just like me now. I've got no idea of what I really want, what I really like. I mean I do know what I wanted @ first.. but just that I didn't work hard enough for it. Hence I ended up in a course that I'm not really interested in. But however its not as bad as in I'm struggling in my course. But just trying to love/ like the modules that this course provides. Its pretty difficult.. but I'm trying:) @ least there're still modules like Web-Publishing, Oral Communications, and some Critical Reasoning Skills that I think I'm interesting in. JAVA as well.. its s.difficult I must say. But if you get hold of it somehow.. its fun too:) ermmms, am I out of point? ahahah:D
Whatever it is, yes, "Plan Your Life!" its IMPORTANT.

weiqi, sad to say, im teaching secondary school kids! hahaha! so what are they? monsters? actually i think secondary school kids are super challenging.. but i had my internship in a good school, so i had a great time.. ha, but i cannot imagine going to a school with lots of lians and bengs that simply dont bother.. this would be uber challenging! haaa
haha mass dance.. in tj when i was a freshie, during mass dance, my 'crew' would go to bedok macs for breakfast :p
then later i was assistant OGL and had to teach the dance... gao xiao...
JC days were crazy fun for me... played too much.. which is why i end up having to suffer later haha... reap what u sow.. (hint hint to the students here* that's why gotta do ur best in everything u do, don't wast your life away peeps!)
lians and bengs? i came from CCHS(main) leh... near TKS too haha.. i guess u gotta really jiayo,cos sec school kids are much more complicated..i mean the naughty ones la haha.. even if lian or beng,gotta see thru the façades and see the true person inside, and help that individual. every child is precious, it's usually the environment that causes them to behave in a certain manner. sad la, not everyone is blessed with a good family. so there are actually a lot of people hurting out there.
Which brings me to the song "厭食症" actually when MLB wrote it, it was meant as a song to explain a girl's struggle with this issue, and how she eventually conquered it. But it might seem like MLB being too preachy, so it was altered to something more mild. But the truth is that we see stuff like that in our society, and we want to talk about it sometimes, to use music to give ppl hope/energy to conquer obstacles. Maybe one day when MLB grows up our mandarin will be good enough to write lyrics as well to explore more themes.
Being random here again, did anyone watch 'this is it' the michael jackson movie? gotta watch it, shows the greatest performer of our time and his last concert. I love how he has a strong commitment to his music and the message he wants to bring to the world. Big waste that he is gone, but may he rest in peace. Pls watch it if u can :)

agree with weiqi that most of the time environment is the factor affecting them, but on the other hand, some of them got bad influence by their friends and some times couldnt simply bother a thing about school.. of cause my goal is to teach and nuture them and i hope i can do to as many of them as i can BUT thats provided that they have the interest.. i feel that kids wouldn't pay much attention to those subjs that they think aren't important, which im going to teach Home Econ and Food & Nutrition.. haa.. but to think of naughty students, i was once a super rebellious student who can pon lessons during lower sec days and now poof, im actually becoming a teacher.. but i should say its all the negative influences, but in the end i choose the way i want to lead :) life's never too late to turn back :)

i think sec sch are really a challenge also.. lol. cause when i think back myself as a sec sch student. i think i sometime wanan slap myself back to those days why did i even did those stuff LOL. though true is one thing tt sec sch are always the memorable one. and i agree tt students are always being influence by own environment and 'friends' around them. cause i think i been through this before and seeing it myself too. ah. some regrets. but wadever it is. i also a BAND person. muahhaha. which is one thing i wun regret for the rest of my life LOL :)

i think even kinda better schools like TKS do have a handful of lians and bengs in them. some even have got outside gangs. there's a few times when students got suspended(girls) or canned(boys) in TKS when caught w/ outside gangs. not only upper sec. now even lower sec are joining gangs outside.
that's why i think good schools might also have these handful of lians and bengs which really is a sad thing. when i went to TKS, thought it was a good school which won't have lians and bengs like some neighbourhood schools do. but iguess i was wrong.

jess, it's important to go dig out everything under the sun abt the course that you are interested in by asking and still asking! cuz by listening, they usually tell you the same good things only! best way to add on from what you get from open house is to find seniors who are in that course or get them to ask their friends about it. sometimes it's all another story abt the same thing!
mass dance.. hahah i think i also like kana 'retribution' with it. im the so not dancer type, so always like anti mass dance and give the sian look. then became ogl and councillor in jc then is like get the maximum training for mass dance in life!
haha liwhey don't see small small your future job! i used to anticipate home econs lesson the most for the whole week in school!
yea i totally agree with the best friends are found when we are young.. i find it quite surprising that i meet my sec sch friends like sooo much more often than meeting my current sch ppl outside sch hours!

I'm currently learning keyboard in this module! but I totally scuks @ it. seeing Weiqi play.. seeing my friends play.. its like chicken feet! but when it comes to me, someone who never once touch Keyboard before is like ultra difficult man! my fingers seems to become "chi tun" when it touches the Keyboard. but I'm glad the one teaching me is someone patient man:) but I'll try my best..

thats when all others poly have their open house too. and thats is when you really interact with TP students.
When different school guide wil guide you around their school and show you their differnt course, where you can also listen to advice from course lecturers.

yujing: im so gan dongs can! u actually want to be my student! HAHA.. my juniors/ friends say if i teach the kids they will die or some thing.. haha one even say the students will get pinched by me if im angry! but this wouldnt happen, i wanna safe keep my job! HAHA
binz: haha actually home econs and F&N is fun one lor! u get to cook and stuffs, but i think for those ppl who dont know how to cook den they wouldnt enjoy~ but i love to cook! hahaha! :D
jess: THERE'S A MAC! hahahaha, its opposite the school have to walk a short while and you can get there only if u know how to go there.. haha, i remembered going there with my friends 2 years ago? LOL.. TPRAWKS RIGHT!! haha, i enjoyed facilitating the kids (oops i dont mean you :x) today though.. but one question stuck me.. - which school got the most handsome guys?! =.= i would prolly said applied science school if i wanted them to come to my school.. HAHA! okay la, come experience the poly life, but u'll only see the fun side! hurhur! :D

To jess: no matter which poly or course you enroll yourself in, what matters most is that you enjoy yourself in there and the new school enviroment. As for the socialising part: there are many ways to get to know new people from your course so just try your best to make an effort to mix around and familarise yourself with everything when you go for the open house. :D always remember this sentence: I can, i will and i must! jiayou jiayou! (hope this helps in someway) :)
And after listening to the 3rd album i can officially say that the songs are the first thing i wanna play no matter where I am. =D

yea liwhey i love cooking! seems like cooking can release stress for me cuz im like cooking more nearing and during major exams!
oh yar jess if you ever get stucked between choosing a school or course because your friends are going one and u prefer the other, seriously consider the one you prefer! cause things may not turn out the way you expect if you choose friends, like different class or timetable etc. but if u choose ur preferred course, there's always a way to make new friends yea? 我是过来人，experienced choosing 2 different paths before, choosing the course reaps more! you can always still meet up with ur old friends outside sch time(:B

And from my point of view jess i think you should go for the tp one today. Cuz one important factor is that this more or less concerns bout your future and once you miss it it's never going to come back alr. while as for the mlb events there are many more events coming up or some mlbians might actually take pics or vids during e event.
But still, i'm just giving my advice n opnions from what i see. So on wether which one you wanna go is still entirely your decision.
Oh, and a early morning greeting to the 3 lost solidiers and all mlbians out there who is reading this blog now or later. Have a great and awesome day ahead guys~

just some advices:
if you want to go JC, you have to be mentally prepare that what is going to happen for the next 2 years , you must be able to take the stress. It will be much much more difficult than secondary school. you got to be more independent and cant rely much on teacher, they will not spoon feed you with TYS answers. You really need a lot of self disclipine and study hard.
personally, i have some friends who went JC, and eventually decides to drop out of JC after one year of studying. Not trying to scare those who intend to go JC, but these are real facts that happen.
If you really want to go JC, make sure you do well and go to local uni, if not, 2 years of JC will be wasted.
As for poly, change the impression of poly students.
dont think poly students are SLACK ! in fact, poly students have more projects to do and i would say the subject that poly covered is more useful in future.
you get to learn like, management subject ( if you enter TP, school of business) , computering subject, you are equitted with more general subject, that actually make your life much more easier when you enter the working society.
also, poly give you more chances to be in " realistic" world, like they always have subject presentation and stuff that requires you to present infront of the class and be in formal suit.
well, poly graduates hold a diploma, so even if ***CHOY CHOY*** cannot get into uni, diploma is still enough for you to survive in the society, but if you **CHOY CHOY** fail A lvl, THATS IT ! cos A lvl cert dont bring you anywhere.
so, o lvl peeps, think about it.
go for open house, really.
be kiasu and go get all the goodies bag, read up about the infor, course structure and most importantly, the career prospect.
