Saga of the Past [Reply]

Before the recording, I think I should blog one saga. At least I'm in time to 'see' Chiobu's reaction tmr. Today's saga will be about Goshen, Shifu's previous workplace and his life.

Let me start with an intro:

In the Bible recorded that the Israelites were brought out from Eygpt to the Promised Land, the land of flowing milk and honey. In this land of Canaan, everyone was living peacefully until a famine struck this place. Then they were lead to another place called Goshen.

[Now the Israelites settled in Eygpt in the region of Goshen. They acquired property there and were fruitful and increased greatly in number. Genesis 47:27]

GOD plans our life meticulously. We may not see it now because we usually fail to look beyond the flood. The end of the road is always the beginning of GOD's works in our lives. Like in the land of Canaan, GOD didn't mentioned to the Israelites that they are going to stay there forever and instead, a famine occurred but they were lead to a better place, a higher level, a more fruitful land.

Shifu's life is like these Israelites. *Now, I'm not creating an image or idol out of him and I don't cultivate the habit of praising ppl. I'm trying to articulate life of another world out of a person's experience and journey.[With permission too]

During Shifu's era, music was very popular and is the "in" thing esp rock. Like every musician, he wanted his music to reach to the highest peak. He sung songs and wanted to live life out of the lyrics.He wanted to understand wat the lyrics were. ~Ketamine~, also one of the word he tried to live out, brought creativity to his music but disaster to the early part of his life.

Drug addicts are the ppl that are most shunned by the goody shoes society. Other than personal struggles and many many inexplicable consequences thay have to faced, the most difficult leap they have to overcome is themselves. Ppl beside them can either destroy them or endorse them. The minute knowledge of prison and fear of the evil word of criminal, make ppl avoid them. It's understandable because if you play drugs, in the end it's the drugs that will play you till you lay still in the grave.

It takes a lot of courage to wash away the past, gain ppl's trust, face yourself and to stand up holding your head high not ashamed.

Shifu being an ex-addict, has made it to this point, I can say remarkable. I have frens tat r still struggling with drugs after many years. Being able to quit drugs is a step of faith and courage. Ability to nurture young kids to be musicians is a bonus. Being able to be featured on media to share his life testimony is a miracle. I believe many ex-addicts will be grateful too and acknowledge the miracles in their lives to be able to start their own family. To us, starting a family is just - liking each other, get married and have babies. To them, it's lots of acceptance and encouragements to move on.

Everyone has a past, regardless how bad it is; it's the future that determines a good ending in everyone's story.

Having such a "unique" past, I think Shifu will not regret it as if he's not bad once, how will he be able to cherish being a good person? Anyway, that's his process in character building.

His leaving from Goshen is like the Israelites leaving the land of Canaan. He is brought to a different place to learn different skills and brought to another height. Before he left Goshen, he was invited to Jamie Oliver's Kitchen to train and work for 3 weeks. the 1st s'porean and 2nd Asian to do so. Isn't that similar to Genesis 47:27?

To conclude, everyone has a story to tell. But can you make your life a good one to testify?

Goshen still there. As beautiful as before, with the small pond and Bamboo shoots. The ancient tree however was reduced to destruction. Fell to it's death and sawed into parts to be send away. Everything is still in there but not the lively workers. ~Closed for renovation~ was the last news. Anyway there are other enterprises setting up their small companies in the old classrooms. Business as usual.

I have friends who struggled with drugs and have finally disappeared....dont even know if they are living....

but yes, i am glad that shifu found his new life (but sad at the same time cos thought of my friend suddenly)

it is not easy to turn over a new live....

so shifu....hoped you can be a live testimonial we will always support yoU!!!

shifu's life experience is a testimony that u don't need to go with the flow to have an enriching life.
many of our so called elites are just existing, not living - after academic pursuits, more pursuits for 5C's. never satisfied with life, never know what they need. what kind of legacy do they leave behind? what would be your last words, that you wish you had scored more A's? close more deals? or contented that you have led a useful, fruitful life?
i know of this ex-drug addict who met a thai tribal princess whilst studying in a bible college. they are now living happily in chiang mai. they started an orphanage and a school and have gotten many of the youths there off drugs. their lives are constantly threatened by the drug lords there. but hey, he is a hero in many's eyes. he made a difference in many's lives. that, is living.

Did you watch the gig when you are at Plaza Sing on Friday? I went there with my friend and wanted to laugh aloud when the superband came out looking embarrassed and shaking shyly to the superband themesong.. I thought they would sing live and what a disappointment i got... But i could understand why they are so embarrassed..can see from their faces! They left after the introduction.

Sam was not there.. guess still in-camp. Nic, i think you shake rather nicely..so dun be so embarrassed! You keep looking at Weiqi and both of you are laughing at yourselves... So i can imagine if Sam was there.. he will look even more shy!

chiobu: Goshen location--somewhere in Geylang but cant rem address. it's in an old school (those 60s-70s style one-storey primary school). maybe someone else can help.

drug addiction: ya, the drug problem is a menace. new danger today is from synthetic drugs. am glad thr r folks helping the addicts. but they need mor volunteers and donations. some of my frds/acquaintances are ex (ex addicts, ex prisoners etc). tough battle. some are still struggling, some have made it thru, gotten married, have kids :) and work. many thik it's cool to try syn drugs but addiction's terrible to get out off. best never to touch dat stuff.

ha ha, i also think many of the young fans are in skool. happy days! i miss being a stud too:(

somehoe, MCR planned it for the sake of MLB...cos only after revivial that the group become stronger so it is to ensure MLB gets further in the semi. yesterday after they were out....its so nuthing.....cos next week they will be back

1)Mantou get out, Juz b come in.
2)Milu bing get out, come in after the revival round. Cause Milo Boys has very strong fans base, so one week of votes can let MCR earn alot leh. To them Milo boys can bring in $$ lor. Not worried at all la. I've confidence that they'll be in again. Don't be depressed, this is a meticulously manipulated variety show. previously my company did a variety show(kick off competition), our producer did some changes to the scores during the competition. Sparked off lots of protest but it was done anyway to make the game interesting.

Chill! I can vouch for that.

Let's see...

Therefore after Chiobu has flew off to Hong Kong less than a day.. Sifu realised that a part of him is missing and that he couldn't stand not seeing Chiobu everyday.. So.. he made an important decision of his life.. closed down Tong Shui for one week to be with CHiobu..and to fly there personally to bake Chiobu's favourite dish.. Egg tarts..

And so.. off Sifu goes to HK.. wholeheartedly with his eggs and flour.. only to realise CHiobu has gone off to Lautau Island for hiking. Nevertheless.. he has set his mind on making the most delicious egg tarts for her. Painstakingly, he baked 6 perfect tarts (crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) and set off to Lautau Island.

***THUNDER ROARS*****

**** LIGHTNING STRIKES****

****HEAVY STORM*****

Meanwhile on the highest hill of Lautau Island, Chiobu found herself trapped among the trees with a badly sprained leg.. she was soaking wet and feeling really miserable... She was wondering aloud how she could get out of this mess and will marry the person whoever rescue her (as you see, the possibility of finding her is so small)..

And then.... (Drums Rolls..............)
Sifu appears with the badly soaked egg tarts and whipped her off her feets... No matter how rocky the road is, Sifu carried Chiobu all the way down the hill....

Oyster.. your turn to continue.. Aiyo..Can utter so much nonsense.. haha. Maybe we can sell story and use the money to vote for MLB..

Chiobu..joking only ok. Just to lighten everyone up, including myself whom is badly traumatised that MLB got booted out..

But am sure they will be in NEXT WEEK.!

oh..that kind of Chi is the traditional Chinese always used and spoken in the olden China. Like if you watch traditional China shows - Dynasty kind etc. That's that kind of culture and language used to epict my previous dramas. The phrasing is different yet can describe many things using only few words. That's the beauty of Mandarin. S'pore's Chinese is horrible to the core. Will try use Eng next time. But eng is more difficult to articulate momentums or "Magical Moments" :)

i agree the china's drama has great language scripting. the phrases are so apt, so melodious. i njoy som of the china's drama
e.g. zou san gongheguo (abt china and nationalism at turn of the century). ha ha, i bought Red of the Red Chamber vcd but tough, without eng subtitles.

so one way i learn chinese
is thru songs!

maybe MOE can consider
employing our Milo boyz
to promote Chinese learning!
